Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA)
The Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA) is the division of JASTECA that was the first to introduce Sri Lankans to the Japanese language. This Service Has Been Offered By JLEA For Almost 20 Years. JLEA has hired Sri Lankan and Japanese teachers with the highest levels of Japanese proficiency to teach classes over the course of around six months in eight categories, ranging from basic to advanced levels. Every year, JLEA teaches Japanese to about 800 students. The Japanese Language Classes Offered By the JLEA Have High Credibility Due to the Close Relationship JASTECA Has With the Japanese Embassy and the Japan Foundation. The Japan Foundation administers the JLPT, or Japanese Language Proficiency Test, internationally to evaluate the proficiency of foreign personnel in the language. Every year, on the first Sunday in July and December, this examination is held twice throughout the world. JLEA is the sole organisation in Sri Lanka authorised to conduct this test twice annually in accordance with strict guidelines supervised by representatives of the Japanese embassy and Japan Foundation.
